One coffee, held to one standard

Kunche is a coffee house in Hyderabad. It sells one arabica coffee, roasted light medium, and it holds that coffee to one standard: the cup should taste the same every time you make it.

The standard

A reference sample is kept from each batch. The next batch is brewed beside it to the same recipe and scored on eight attributes. It is packed under the Kunche name only when every score falls inside the accepted range.

What we make

• Drip bags in cartons of five and ten. Each bag holds 10 g and makes one cup with nothing more than hot water.
• A 250 g pouch of the same coffee, ground for pour over.
